A friendly volunteer-run club on Toronto's Humber Bay
Roy's Marine Service a diesel mechanic active in this area, will explain basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills for marine diesel and gas engines and other boat systems. This course acquaints sailors with key features of the internal combustion diesel engine. You will become familiar with the engine operations, 12 volt electrical systems as well as some troubleshooting.
Topics include the history and principle of the diesel and gas engines, outboard motor maintenance, mechanical engine systems including shaft seals and shaft alignment, cooling and exhaust circuit and issues including winterizing, re-commissioning, fuel systems, electrical systems and controls as well as routine maintenance.
Roy outlines some of the skills that can save the day dealing with on-water emergencies, maintenance routines that can be completed by the owner and those that need professional advice to prevent issues.
Cost: $350.00 plus HST
