Poralu Dock Launch - Work Project #A39

Spring is finally here, and we are intending (weather conditions permitting) to install the paddle dock this Saturday morning, April 27th. We will need several volunteers to assist, especially for the lift and launching of the dock sections.

Here’s the plan:

  • Prep work will begin around 7:30am - we would appreciate a few people that are handy with tools.
  • For the moving process 9:00-9:30am, for 2-3 hours, we require approximately 15 strong bodies.
  • There will be some time in between moving the 3 sections, during which your assistance would be appreciated to help re-locate the CKO racks. For those members (CKO or Senior with kayaks or canoes) who have boats located in the racks opposite the back of the Vanguard Shed, plus J rack which is at the end of the row along the back wall of the VS, please attend or send a responsible person to assist with the handling of your boat during the rack relocation. If you have any questions, contact Derek Griffiths at 416-825-8184, he expects to be at the club for 11am to co-ordinate the racks realignment.
  • After the dock sections have been launched, we need few handy people to help with the dock connections and installation of bumpers and decking.

This is a good way to bank some of your required work hours early in the season.

Jim Farrell will be coordinating this effort (thanks Jim!).

If you can assist, please let Jim know via email at jim_farrell@rogers.com or text message at 416-434-3414.

The weather forecast looks reasonable, but dress to keep warm and if you have gear (neoprene) to be able to be (partially at least) in the water as needed, bring it along.
